It is not easy to keep up with the diversity of Portuguese grape varieties, there are more than 250 in total, and it gets even more complicated when they change names between regions.
Folgasão went from here to the islands of Zarco, and there it gained fame as Terrantez.
Folgasão is also known as Terrantez da Madeira. It is a variety with a round and tense grape berry, low alcoholic concentration, and a general high acidity.
Folgasão is not as acidic as Arinto, but it presents without a doubt the aromatic freshness and perception of a very mineral and fresh grape variety.
Mostly planted in the Douro, but in dwindling numbers.
