We want to show the Azores to the world and the world to the Azores! We want you to taste the land and sea of the Azores through a glass of wine.
Our Volcanic Series originate in the volcanic and arid landscapes that defy the very concept of arable land. It’s at the base of the Pico mountain, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, that our singular, saline wines are born, or should we say, erupt.
Our first wine in this collection was Terrantez do Pico, which is also de name of an almost extinct grape variety from the Azores. Here we can discover exclusive, indigenous and unique grape varieties - until recently forgotten and only now able to be savoured.
High above the Atlantic Ocean 80 to 580 metters, on the Island of Pico’s northwest’s face, in vocanic soils dating back over 1500-2000 years, is where you’ll find these ancient grape varieties (between 60 and 120 years old). These ancestral wine varieties, mostly Arinto dos Açores (>95%), can be found split into small 0,89, 0,6, 1,4 hectar plots. These wines are produced in limited batches. Born and bred in the majestic landscapes and among the wine culture of Pico Island, they represent Pico’s purest and most authentic terroir.
