Fitapreta wines come from the Alentejo region. They transmit the history and innovative approach to recovering old grape varieties, as well as the local customs of this part of the country. This is the land of sun.,granit, schist and clay. It is the land of both modern and forgotten grape varieties. The perfect bait to capture the attention of Winemaker António Maçanita, who – throughout the years – has explored, recovered and created methods that occasionally align with the status quo, while other times challenging it.
“(…)it was then that I learnt a very important lesson: you can’t make wine with the critics in mind. We should do the best we can and believe that someone out there will appreciate it.” – António Maçanita, in Jornal de Negócios, 2021.
The wines we produce every year and the fruit of our accumulated learning and experience. These are our classics – our vision of Alentejo.
These are our experimental wines. Bold and adventurous, such as Branco de Tintas, Portugal’s first white wine from red grapes, or Branco de Talha, Portugal’s first bottled amphora white. Our Signature Series offers experimental, yet remarkable and profound wines.
Our vineyard Chão dos Eremitas, with more than 50 years old, is located in an unique and symbolic part of Alentejo: it was at the base of the Serra d’Ossa mountain that the São Paulo hermits first planted their vines. These wines refect the Alentejo of years past.
