Aragonez is known by many different names, depending on its location. It is found planted throughout Spain and Portugal, producing quality wines. Aragonez, also known as Tinta Roriz in the Douro, is the second most planted grape variety in the region and is traditionally used in Port blends.
In the Alentejo, it is one of the ten most planted red grape varieties.
Aragonez is characterised by aromas of red and black fruits with spicy cinnamon notes, it is without doubt the most tannic grape variety in Portugal. In the right conditions it can produce dense wines with great structure, that win of great prizes.
