Trincadeira – Alentejo
Tinta Amarela is a very temperamental variety, if there is too much heat it tends to dry out and shrivel, if it rains the berry bursts immediately and becomes rotten.
For that reason, it is easy to imagine how popular it is.
But it is an essential component to Douro blends, bringing a spicy and slightly grassy aroma, and also some earthy notes, which balance the blend and constrain the blends that normally tend to have ripe, fruity aromas.
