It is, most probably, the most successful foreign grape variety in Portugal, gathering broad consensus among wine growers, makers and consumers.
Shiraz is among the 5 most planted red grape varieties in the Alentejo. Shiraz has a medium to early ripening, elongated grape berry with a thick skin.
Shiraz generally produces wines of a very concentrated violet colour, with notes of blackberries and black pepper.
Shiraz wines are generally rich in tannins but essentially very round and easy to drink.
