A mix of Moscatel de Hamburgo with Castelão, made in the Agronomic station by José Leão Ferreira. Created at the end of the 19th century as a response low yield.
A productive variety, with large bunches, low alcohol content and light colour.
The Argonómica ended up staying in the places where the vineyard was abandoned and was not replaced by oenologically improved varieties, for this reason the variety exists in the vineyards of the island of Pico.
It produces wines with an vibrant colour and low acidity.
