New launch: Rosé da Fitapreta Cuvée Nº7

An "undated" Rosé that combines the freshness of younger vintages with the complexity of ageing on the lees that only older vintages can give. It's fine and complex, without ever ceasing to be fresh and simple, as a great Rosé should be.

Grape varieties
Castelão (Periquita), Trincadeira (Tinta Amarela) and Aragonez (Tempranillo).

Viticulture
The proximity of water is a determining factor in all our vineyards, ensuring that the water tables are close by, which guarantees fresh soils and viticulture without irrigation. Our vineyards are either cultivated or under the Organic Production regime, and they are all part of the Alentejo Vineyard Sustainability Program.

Winemaking
Manual harvest at night, followed by gentle crushing into gravity tanks (the grapes never touch the pumps), with an open spout (open valve). Then natural cold decantation, without any additives. Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel vats or barrels. 55% sangria and 45% direct press. Bottled in January 2024.

Alentejo grape varieties

Castelão

Castelão (syn. Periquita) is a low concentration grape variety that has fallen into the background in this era of concentrated red wines.

Originally from Alentejo (according to the latest studies), it occupies an uncomfortable third place in the region's vineyards, although in wines it is relegated to secondary or extra roles.

Trincadeira

Trincadeira Preta (Alentejo) or Tinta Amarela (Douro), or just Trincadeira, is a typical Alentejo grape variety with a thin, fragile skin, which causes it to rot if it rains and become raisined at high temperatures.

Despite its fragility, it is an essential component of Alentejo blends, bringing a spicy and slightly herbaceous aroma.

Aragonez

The Aragonez red grape variety, imported from Aragon and officially known as Tinta Roriz (Douro) and Tempranillo (Spain), is the second most planted variety in the Douro region and traditionally makes up Port wine blends. In the Alentejo, it is one of the ten most planted red grape varieties.

It is an early variety, very vigorous and productive, easily adaptable to different climates and soils.
