In this interview with Marketeer, Joana Maçanita says that the secret to success lies in the "will to overcome" and the intention to create a legacy. Given to new discoveries and knowledge, the winemaker seeks to "create wines that are part of the history and the place where they belong". In fact, the now author also wants to simplify the language of wine. "Explaining something apparently complex - which is based on chemical, physical and microbiological components - is much easier than the subjectivity of the taste and aesthetics of wines," she argues.
In 1999, Joana Maçanita began an adventure in Agronomy Engineering at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, in Animal Production. However, life took a different turn and she ended up falling in love with the world of oenology. A dream that, according to her, began with a request from her brother, who asked her to help out in the winery. Given to challenges, she agreed to the request and decided to spend two weeks at a friend's winery. There, she discovered new methods, worked hard and acquired skills so that, two months later, she left with "a smile from ear to ear". After her experience at her friend's winery, she went back to college to change her major and study Viticulture and Oenology.
