Vineyard blend of about 20 white grape varieties
Maçanita is a project of two brothers and winemakers who explored the terroirs of the Douro. They are so many and so different that already in1935 a system of classes from Letra A to Letra F, with the right to benefit, and without the right below Letra F starts and is maintained until today. In letter A are the most mature plots that brought so much fame to the Douro; in letter F and following, the opposite. With less power and concentration, they were pushed to abandonment. But there are still forgotten treasures, vineyards planted in other times that confirm the existence of several Douros. This is one of those vineyards.
Carlão, Cima Corgo. Vineyards with 110-130 years old at 580-720m altitude, soils in transition from schist to granite, with an average production of 1100kg/ha.
