100% Carrega Branco
Maçanita is the project of a brother and sister, both winemake- rs, who are exploring the Douro terroirs.. In 2019, they began restoring their oldest vineyards in the Carlão area, undertaking exhaustive work to identify and genetically confirm the grape varieties present in the historical heritage of the Douro. In partnership with the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, they confirmed that in this vineyards, Carrega Branco, was the most represented variety, accounting for between 15% and 28% of the planting of white grapes. Contributing to the revival of this nearly extinct variety, they selected it from among the 43 white grape varieties found in their vineyards. Here we present the first old single-varietal of Carrega Branco. We hope you enjoy it!
Carlão, Cima Corgo. Vineyards with 120-140 years old at 575 m altitude, granitic soils, average production 1800kg/ha.
Horse plowing. Manual harvest for 18kg boxes. Direct press of whole bunch, cold decanting, spontaneous fermentation in barrels O with bâtttonage. Ageing for 12 months in neutral barrels and 6 months in horizontal stainless steel tanks on the fine lees.

Citric yellow color, fresh and mineral aroma with some creamy notes. The attack is dense, rich with good acidity.
Store at 6-8ºC, serve at 10ºC and drink at 12ºC.
Pairs well with baked fish or salted fish. Seasoned white meats and soft cheeses.
