Tinta Negra (aka Molar, Saborinho).
This rosé is made from the Tinta Negra grape variety. The Tinta Negra variety is part of the ancient winemaking of the Madeira islands and is still the basis for the wines that made this island famous. Outside the Madeira islands, it is a rare grape variety that can only be found in regions where the sea is close by, earning another name such as Molar in the Colares region or Saborinho in the Azores region. However, it should not be confused with Negra Mole from the Algarve, as it is a different variety. Its role in the past seems to have been to "color" white wines and give them a certain golden appearance that was appreciated at the time. Here, we test the potential of this variety in Rosé.
