We still haven't managed to convince the Maçanita brothers to do new Lives, it was a moment in the world when everything stopped, but the brothers didn't! They entertained us (and entertained themselves), teaching, explaining complex topics in a relaxed and fun way as if they were simple subjects.
They got angry, they had fun, they argued, they ate live, they drank (António sometimes too much), delving into the topics of wine production, grape varieties and wine pairing, as we will rarely have the opportunity to do.
We enjoyed revisiting these episodes so full of information and fun that we'll be sharing one of the episodes every week so that we can savor and remember each one in this Revival: Mano a Mano.
In this Live Mano a Mano, António shows his sister Joana the then-new winery of the Azores Wine Company. Step by step through all the stages of winemaking, from the moment the grapes arrive at the winery to the ageing stage. We learn about the meticulous selection of the grapes on the sorting table (only one bunch shouldn't have gone through, as António proves!), to the explanation of why the vats were placed horizontally.
