Leading this project are the two brothers and enologists Joana and António Maçanita. The creation of Maçanita Vinhos was a dream long desired by the siblings: give life to a wine with its own character and personality, made "Maçanita way”. In 2011, the project of the Maçanita siblings in the Douro region begins. Based on wines of great quality and oenological richness, typical of Douro, the Maçanita project brings an innovative and young methodology to the production of wines with great quality.
Today, the Maçanita Vinhos vineyards are distributed throughout the 3 sub-regions of the Douro: Baixo Corgo where you can find the Malvasia Fina, Viosinho and the Gouveio; In the Douro Superior the Códega do Larinho; Red grapes are located in the Cima Corgo region, near Pinhão. There you can find the Touriga Nacional, Sousão and old vineyards with more than 80 years old. These wines are the reflex of the Douro terroir and express the character and personality of both brothers. Along the years they’ve both produced distinguished and acknowledged wines by some of the best wine critics and prestigious wine contests in the world. António and Joana will continue to surprise, and show the best of what can be done in the Douro region.
